I totally agree they are lacking the real sense of burlesque, I think that keeping the tease and old feel of it is something that we Brits do well. America likes that showgirl vibe, all big all brassy all dazzling. Im glad im not the only one that feels they are missing the mark

as for the costumes Im going through a magpie faze at the mo so the sparkling attracts me! give me my corset, bustle and victorian ringlets any day for performances but I do struggle for nice underware when all of that comes off especially bras. so some of the ideas for that will be used.

As for my mum watching it, Im fortunate enough that shes been to see me perform, so she knows my stuff has a lot more theatre to it than that.

what a load of bull - more las vegas than burlesque.

i turned it on thinking i could show one of my mates that was round, what i do for a living .

and after 15 mins turned it off -
a total misrepresentation as far as i'm concerned.

i agree kittie - our british burlesque is so much more theatrical and character based.

We're all agreed - Burlesque Girls was a big disaappiontment. I tuned in hoping it was a prog about the scene in the UK but that was too much to expect from CH5.

I agree with Kitty but who would make a prog about the history and trad of UK burlesque which did not go for the glitz and titz approach? The costumes on last night's prog may have been great but the people were awful. The guy was a creep and I didn't get any sense of a love of the art of burlesque.

Hi everyone I am v. new to all this and have no knowledge as yet. I am looking to find a form of exercise I enjoy, that will help me boost my self-esteem, enable me to get fit and also celebrate my womanhood. I have the trad. hour glass figure but need to lose a couple of stone and it will be good, I think, to find a class where my kinda figure is celebrated and people do not think it strange that I do not want to look like Posh Spice and instead favour the look/style/figure of, say, Jayne Mansfield or Marilyn.!
I feel I have found my niche with this perhaps - plus I love glam clothes and would dress at all times in full-on glam evening-wear if I could!

Size is only an issue if you let it be, or if you are trying to find stunning underware! Gits that only make it in small sizes! If you are comfortable doing what you are doing then great if youre not then it will show up a mile!

Cheers for responding! Actually I don't feel un-erotic at a heavier size - and I am still in proportion! The issues are the clothes thing you already mentioned and the fitness thing - I feel v. sluggish and unfit at the mo and trad forms of exercise just don't appeal! This sounds much more fun plus I love the glamour aspect!

Re: the username - I am being a tad lazy and trying to make life easier for myself by using the same name as on another web-site where it is highly appropriate and garners me much respect! But hey - I can always change/modify it.

If I come along to one of the shows advertised on this site does it matter as an audience member if I don't yet have a load of sexy and appropriate clothing to wear? Will a nice ordinary curve-enhancing dress suffice?

I have just phoned Volupte and got the info re: price and times for Sat. They sound lovely - v. friendly. If my friend agrees I will come down q. early so I can watch the show and grab a bar stool. A lady should never have to stand! Um. if my friend wants to stick to our original plans I will try and come next month or the one after.
