We know that when you're out and about you all suffer from severe withdrawal symptoms due to being unable to access the Ministry Of Burlesque website.

However, all that's about to change because our service will shortly be available for users of mobile phones and Pocket PC's too. MoB for Mobiles is nearing completion and is starting its beta testing phase now.

With this in mind, I'd like to invite anyone with a GPRS mobile phone to access the site from the following URL:

And post their experiences in this forum thread. Please remember to let me know what device you're using to access the mobile site too.

Ok using Samsung s400i, apart from being rather expensive to go through the pages (must be a lot of data in there) all seems fine apart from going through to the galleries only to find they werent available. Will have a better look when I get my free time back for it

Actually it should be dirt cheap - the mobile version of Ministry Of Burlesque is text only - this means that the average page is about 0.5kb - about 200 times smaller than the main site.

If you're paying by how much bandwidth you use, this is tantamount to a maximum of 0.5p a page - that's 20 times cheaper than sending a single text message.

Again, the lack of images is because it would be too expensive to show them on mobile phones. A single page of thumbnails can be nearly 1mb in size. This would cost a user about £1 to show on a mobile phone - that's why images are disabled.

sorry about that, it was o2's fault, they like to take more money off me and then put it back on later so when I first checked they took off 60p just checked again and it was 5p, so you are right it is cheap.

It would make more sense to me to take the galleries off so more people dont waste money (however little) going though the options to them only to find it was a wasted journey.

Also will there be a function to log in so you could check your msgs in the future?

Actually I need to leave this option in because I'm going to look at optimising images for mobile phones screens - by default this means that they would only be about 2-3kb each.

You also ought to phone 02 and ask about your GPRS tarif. Up until Friday night, I was paying £150 a month for my GPRS but they've just put me on an unlimited tariff which costs just £7.50 a month - which is nice!

It's already there! Click the 'Menu' link at the bottom of any of the pages and this will take you to a page where you can log in!

Once you're logged in, you can check your messages and post onto the forums as usual.

Thanks, but I'm on a pay as you go thing where you pay 10 quid a month and get 300 msgs and so much wap/gprs. most of the time i dont use it but ive been hitting the wap chat lately (sad git i know but, i work for the council in the day so I've got to do something!) Thats a great saving for you tho! you must be well happy.

Thanks for that, was thinking of all the times ive left a mobile number or address in a message and then not having it when its really needed!

The pic thing would be really good for that spur of the moment 'oh yes Id be really interested about booking you, do you have any pics of performances?' moments.

Oh cool, I've just realised the time i can skive off and go home soon. Joy, might go play dress up and work out my master plan of workshop and night thats supposed to of all happened by the end of August, getting the maximum turn out without upsetting Candy Box and clashing with Scarlet. Cuz lets face it business is a lot easier when people are not in it to steal custom, especially when they are coming at something from different angles, theres room for both! Can you tell im babbling to waste more time?

You'd think so - truth of the matter is that they promised to do this back in April and they only realised their mistake 3 months and over £450 later!

Of course their customer support are unable to give refunds despite them admitting their mistake. I also don't have the willpower to have yet another battle with a faceless corporation!

Exactly - that's why I need to look at optimising the pix for mobiles.

I think it's very hard to upset Candy Box - they are lovely people and their night is top notch!

I thought Scarlet was more of a Fetish night - Kittie performed there a few months ago.

Candy box are, although I seem to be getting no response from Al at the moment to msgs both on here and Myspace as i wanted to let him know what was going on so no toes were stepped on. It may be because I perform at the rival night, (if you can call it that, they are totally differently styled nights) Diamond Rendezvous, and Sobriety and Al have had their clashes in the past that Im getting no reply.
And yes Scarlet is a fetish night (kittie was great BTW) but theres a lot of the same crowd that attend Scarlet, Diamond rendezvous and Candy Box, Brums a bit lacking in the 'alternative' (using it very loosley) scene so when theres something on, everyones there with bells on!.
