Here is a link to the first post I put on the site, which was pretty much the same as yours.

The best thing I think to do is research burlesque and go to as many performances as you can. Burlesque covers a very broad spectrum so find out what part it is that really appeals to you. Start thinking about what kind of act you want to do. Talk to as many people as you can and find out how and why they got into it. Enrole in some classes near you.

The most important thing is dont be scared. Everyone here is very supportive and always willing to take time to talk. I havent been here very long and I've only just started classes but all the established performers are extremely supportive. Just let your enthusiasm take over.

Lady Lilly where in Scotland are you based?
I live in Glasgow and am currently taking Gypsycharms classes at the QMU. We're in dire need of more girls to join the class or it wont be able to continue.

If your interested I can pm you with more details.

Default How to begin...

Find out when the next MOB informal meeting is and come down to that. Nothing like meeting people in person and talking (taking notes) and finding out where and when they're performing because, for me, it was easier to relate to someone I'd spoken to rather than someone I don't know. Also, check the internet for performances in London - Lady Luck club which I will be attending this Thursday, to watch, and Hip Hip is also a good one. They have open spots as well for when you're ready to take to the stage. If nothing else, speak with Kittie or James or any of the MOBstars, they're quite helpful.
Good luck and keep at it.

I was wondering the exact same thing. i know of no weekly classes in the fife or edinburgh area of scotland and i have no idea how to get involved in the scene, even as a spectator. I've just turned eighteen, so i'm a little shy about it all, and could really benefit from any advice someone may have on burlesque in my area.
i'd be really grateful to anyone with advice.
