Default Pants and fringing

Hi everyone,

I've just joined and would like to say hi! Does anyone have any suggestions about sewing fringing onto pants please? In my eternal spirit of being a student, I'm trying to make accessories and can't seem to get the fringing on to the pants so I can still get the pants on!

Thank you!

Dusky xx

Hi Dusky,

Just got into work. Shame I'm going to be here for the next eight hours.

Let's hope someone can give us some tips. Also if anyone can recommend fabric shops in Glagsow that would be ace!

It may be the fabric of the knickers thats the issue - if stretchy at all, then sewing anything will restrict the stretch, unless you only sew ate certain points rather than right across the trimming.

Try silk ar satin knickers that are made to cover your arse, and don't rely on stretch.

that's all that comes to mind - probably because i have a big butt though.

i made fringed knickers for the sleazy cheezy western night. it took forever as the fringe kept getting caught up in the thread. i foundif i bought the panties a size bigger so after i sewed the fringe on i could still get into them and they hadnt pulled tight. try and keep your stiching kinda loose - if that makes sense.

it was trial and error for me. i made a pair of beautiful frilly knickers and couldnt even get them over my knees!

Thank you for all the advice, thinking silk may be the way to go.and it feels nice too which is always a bonus. Haven't got any further with places to buy fringing, sorry Little Red. I think there's a fabric shop at the back of Buchanan Gallleries but haven't had time to check it out, been working most of the weekend (sob! sob!). If not a shopping trip to Edinburgh could be an idea?!

If you an get access to a sewing machine these quite often come with a thing called a strech stitch function which does what it says on the tin!

I put several ruffles on a pair of stretchy gold undercrackers and it woked right nice!

Hello Dusky,

I usually get my supplies from Remnant Kings above Frasers on Argyle St (the entrance is through a close on the Buchanan Street side of Frasers) I find them to be quite reasonably priced and really helpfull. If they dont have what your looking for they'l know where you can get it.

Hope this helps hon!
