Default Where can I get Ostrich Feather fans?

Hi,

I am dancing on the 17th of July and I need to use some fans in my routine. Is there a shop in London where I can try them out?

I've seen websites but I'd like to ensure I get the right size and they match my cossie. Also, what do they cost?

S

From me !

www.sugarsugarburlesque.com/fans.htm

but also from :
www.ostrich.com
www.thefeatherplace.com
www.bonnicis.com , etc .

ostrich fans are usually £150 a pair and go upwards to about £750 a pair depending on size, colour and where you get them from.

as far as i know, there isnt a shop in london where you can get them - cos ive never come across one. We will be stocking them in SoHigh Soho (96 berwick street) in the future, but probably not for a month or so .

also, i believe you can hire them from Angels fancy dress shop - but cant buy them.

X good luck X

Oh truly!? Maybe I will just hire them for this show and see how it goes before I invest in my own.

Thanks for getting back to me! x

Hi,

Hey, do they need to be metal or perspex? What is best?

ive never seen them in metal before - and i personally wouldnt recommend it!

feather fans are usually based on either plastic ( acrylic, lucite, etc .) or wooden staves.

i prefer not to recommend one over another as its down to personal preference - you really need to try them both out for yourself before you can make a decision.

My personal preference is wooden as they're lighter and my fans are incredibly huge already that i dont want any extra weight when im fan dancing. But they are not as durable as acrylic staves and can sometimes require more maintenance.

there's a whole thread about the differences in fans here :

good luck - let us know how you get on.
