Belfast Burlesque is slowly but surely taking off. Weimar Republic was the first to attempt a true burlesque event in that we aimed to showcase performance styles from the early 20's through to thr 60's rather than simply throwing someone on stage in pincurls and a flapper dress! There has been a rather dubious surge of Burly events recently - one is basically a drag show, one is more of a vocal cabaret/lounge evening, another is a circus-orientated show and the other is a fetish event.

My troupe, The Weimar Republic Revue, is always looking for new people who are looking to embrace burlesque for the marvellous and creative force it is - get in contact!

Weimar Republic runs every last thursday of the month at Mynt, Dunbar Street. We are an alternative club and feature a monthly themed show (though this months is short due to a stupid amount of cockups :\), live djs, drinks promotions etc etc. Please do feel free to check us out on myspace if youre interested in reading more!
