Default Pastie Problem

Hello to all.
I'm a newbie.
Burly Fan & wanna be.

Iv started making pasties and the materials are fine but when the sequins are rubbed the colour lifts from them exposing the silver under.

I thought about using some kind of lacker like hair spray but im not sure.

Has anyone any suggestions or tips ?

Hello

I have not experienced the problem with pasties because they dont often rub on anything. But have encountered the problem with losing sequin colour on sequins i have sewn to my pants.

I have not yet found a solution. I thought of spraying them with polyurethane, or a high gloss lacquer or varnish (hairspay rub off fast). i think it will involve a lot of trial and error, as some sprays will lift the colour.

this will work for your pastie problem. however not so good for using on pants. Perhaps it is the sequins themselves, there might just be cheaper makes.

good luck, let us know what you discover

xx Foxy

Jeez i'm having a problem with my pasties too, only my problem is that they won't stay on for very long. If i even seem to work myself into a sweat they just slide off. This problem has only started in the last few weeks, i've been using double-sided tape, it usually works fine, maybe it is that my pasties are old and worn?

Spirit gum or, if you can afford it, Duo eyelash glue/medical adhesive. Duo especially, as it sticks to EVERYTHING and comes off with little to no effort, but not when you dont want it to.

I think the sequins problem may be the sequins theselves - buy some pricet ones and see how they last.

As for pasties - there is a whole thread on that somewhere...

i think it depends on your skin type as to what works best, but make absolutely sure thatyou don't have any moisturieser or your skin - the pasties will slid off for sure.

Even moisturising shower gel - use womething astringent or try cleaning the area with medi-swwabs etc first.

Sequins will do that. There's no avoiding it unless you want to gloss each individual disc with clear nail varnish, and that eventually chips off too.

For gluing them on, I recommend latex weft glue. This is the type you use for hair extensions, but is stronger than eyelash glue. You can buy it in Sally's. It dries white or black, depending on the type you buy.

There is also a weft glue called "liquid gold" which is great for extensions, but likely to pull the backs off your tassels and half your skin when you peel that off. Best avoid that one

I have no idea who I'm talking to because the names of half the posters on this thread aren't being displayed, but I'll say this:

Double sided tape is rubbish if it's craft tape or lingerie tape. Get some toupee tape from eBay - sticks everything!

I'm also struggling to make them, I have buckram for the base but getting the things to stick on is really hard! The fabric glue I have isn't very good! What do other people use for a base?

Thanks! x
