Sticky tape for tassels
What really is the best tape for tassels etc?
I always find some good stuff including traditional sellotape's double sided stuff, but somehow different climates seem to affect it differently - i.e. ni amount fo the tape would keep my smerkin on in Jamaica.
But i could bearly peel it off in Moscow.
What gives?

tape all the way baby
Tape always works best. I think that tit tape and sellotape are the exact same thing. The latter is packaged in smaller rolls and sold for a higher price.
I have never found glue to be good, to much fluffing and unreliable. However I heard it is good for merkins if you are not clean shaven... secure, but at the end of the night painful.

the old tape v glue debate
Now there's a thing. I find tape worse than useless. it just will not adhere to my skin in a trustworthy fashion! To this end I never set foot in a venue without my trusty spirit gum. I suspect that different skins react in as idiosyncratic manner as their owners: tape, copydex, eyelash glue, tiling grout, wing of bat and toe of frog, all come recommended heartily depending on whom you speak to.

Aye - u may be on to something there!
Where do you buy the spirit gum? Is it easy to clean off the tassels and skin?
The tape gradually wrecks the back of the tassels i feel....

spirit gum
You can buy spirit gum from any good theatrical make up shop - i recommend Charles Fox near the strand, or Screenface in covent garden.
It shouldnt cost more than £3 or £4 for a little botle, and that'll last for ages. The rewmover is called MME (or Mastix), blueish liquid in a bottle - about same price, shouldnt be more than £6/£7 at the most. You can soak a cotton bud or pad in MME and slowly remove the spirit gum.
A lot of people just rip the pasties off afterwards - but I dont recommend that !
But you Have, Have, Have to wait until the spirit gum is tacky before trying to stick the tassels on - cant stress what a difference that makes in terms of stickiness.
Good luck ! X
P.S. Youre right, it could be a good idea to combine our forces in running workshops - will bring all my figures, etc with me next week. X

I'm sure Madame Breeze will be flattered that you aspire to have her great legs!
How about you learn testi-tassle-twirling and we'll staple them on?

My old karate Sensei once told me:
"Glasshopper, Keda Breeze is not just a person, she is a state of mind!"

I think that once I attain the state of enlightenment known as 'Keda', I shall be able to do this without a problem.

Tassel tape
This is the technique I was told by Satan's Angel ( Burlesquer fro the 60s) who was famous for twirling flaming tassels- so those babies HAD to stay on!
Begin AT LEAST an hour before performance. She uses tape ( not spirit gum) and lines the entire inside of the pastie being very careful not to touch the sticky part with fingers if poss (she suggests tweezers)then heat the tape for a couple of seconds without setting fire to it - she uses a lighter!! Personally I have had success ( and feel safer) with a hot hairdryer setting- the tape should be warmed not bubbling! Immediately and carefully press pastie into required position and press very firmly. Continue to hold in place for at least 5 mins ( or just put your bra back on if possible) Don't try to twirl for an hour ( keep bra on!)
She said she never lost a pastie in 20 years of performing for hours every night using this method!
To remove, peel carefully and use baby oil for excess.

Ahhhh, baby oil
good plan with the baby oil!
I tend put my tassel on an hour before to make sure they stick - the body heat tends to help i think. It's great wandering round with tassels on uner your jumber as you look like you have really pointy boobs with erect nips
