I'm looking for burlesque performers interested in getting involved in a slightly different sort of arts / modelling / performance project. There are two (linked) aspects to this, so let me start from the start and bear with me.
1. I'm a writer - mainly involved with cross artform collaborations and writing for performance - who, off and on over the last 10 years, has been composing and subsequently performing or giving readings of 'life studies'. Essentially, word paintings of the human figure. Nudes in words. Male and female. These have been created at life classes in the usual sort of way except using language as a medium instead of drawing or painting. Something about them 'works'. I'm currently interested in broadening the scope of this area of observational writing into portraiture and want to complete a series of 'studies' of burlesque performers / models / enthusiasts. I suppose it's the clothes and the look and the projection/persona that I'm interested in. And what this provokes in the imagination. These studies can be solo or group portraits and ideally will take place in a location proposed by yourself that will serve as a backdrop. For stage performers - I might also be interested in making a description of your act - depending what it is. Which leads me onto item 2.
2. I'm also developing an idea for a new theatre/performance work with a scenographer / set designer called Sarah-Jane. We're developing a project called Peep Show which we're envisaging might be a sort of literary / burlesque crossover that lures audiences into enjoying an extremely restricted view of performances that are described in words with tantalisingly vivid detail. Plus other more visual teasing devices. It's still being developed as an idea and we're not sure yet about the best context in which to place such a show but we're thinking maybe situations where other events are happening around it (e.g., festivals).
Burlesque artists encountered in phase one will hopefully provide the pool of performers required for phase two. If you think it sounds interesting, do get in touch. Sarah-Jane's in London and I'm based in the South East (near Brighton), so southern counties and London are going to be easiest - but if y're interested and live in another part of the country get in touch anyway. It might be possible to organise something.
Happy to try and answer any further questions you might have.
I'm in the South East, and regularly in London. Happy to help, but you might have to find me a link to somewhere that explains what you mean a little better, I'm a little lost

Um yeah if you could let me know more info I'd be happy to help. I live in Paris 3/4 weeks of the month so dates are a must.
Dr Sketchy's have a franchise in London. It may be worth your while popping along to one of the sessions for a spot of research (i.e. to have a peek at what's already out there).
I'm based in Scotland, but this sounds like a very interesting project and I would love to get some more information about it. If you plan to move it around the uk, or bring it to the Edinburgh Fringe please do get in touch.
Hello Midnight, Sinthia, Beatrix, Vendetta and Heathersweet, I really appreciate you getting back to me. Clearly the wording in my original message was a bit confusing - probably because there was two distinct ideas and a fair bit of background to try and compress - but thanks for the expressions of potential interest and sorry it's taken a while to get back to you here in the chat zone. I think what I'll try and do is reply individually. You may even be able to help me refashion the idea into a form that's easier for performers to grasp.
I'veread it through a few times and it sounds interesting, although I am a little confused. If you could PM me to explain it a bit more I would be happy to help out
