Women cant be sexy and funny (apparently)
Yet ive seen quite a few comedy based burlesque acts, ok its not exactly stand up stripping but entertainment is entetainment right?
i want my first performance to have a comedy angle to it i think its importat to try and entertain as many people as possible in your audience
so what are peoples thoughts on the title of this thread and i guess, also comedy based routines?

I saw a tv show recently in which a former kids tv presenter tried to become a lap dancer and topless model to boost her public profile. She auditioned for Peter Stringfellow after being taught to pole dance , she kept cracking up and making jokes (she's also a standup comedienne) and he told her it's impossible to be funny and sexy, and to stick to being a standup. I think someone need to show him some burlesque dancing!

personally i find that being funny goes hand in hand with being sexy/sensual/attractive...the confidance that comes from being genuinely funny and being able to laugh at the world and yourself makes someone male or female much more attractive in any light! just my tuppence worth...

Hi hun, just off the top of my head take a peek at Fancy Chance , Kitten on the Keys and Little Brooklyn - they are just a few performers who are sexy and funny... there are heaps more but these are the ones that first popped into my head.

No no nooo! Some of my favourite burlesque performers are funny as well as sexy! I love Wild Card Kitty in particular, her face is so expressive.

My first (and only so far!) routine definitely had a twist of comedy to it. I think I work best as a cheesecake/comedy sort of burlesque performer as when I'm off-stage I am not the conventional "sexy" at all. In fact at sexy I tend to FAIL. I'm awkward, scary, offensive, I say "LOL" in real life, I laugh at inappropriate moments, give too much information and say the wrong thing at the wrong time. I would feel like such a fraud if I got on stage and was anything different. People can tell when a performer is showing their true personality versus just going through the motions robotically.
I think it's one of those bigger-picture media beauty ideal issues. We do often segregate women who are funny from those who are sexy but these qualities can co-exist and there must be some people who fancy women who are funny BECAUSE they are funny and not in spite of it! I hope so anyway.

Is it a case of you can't try to be funny AND try to be sexy and succeed at both at the same time, perhaps? Are women who are simultaneously funny and sexy trying to be both at once? Or is their sexiness something that happens to be present whilst they're trying to be funny?

Sexy and funny can so go together. I think humour can sometimes make a person appear sexier.
Mysti Vine for example took to the stage dressed as a giant Vagina and continued to make jokes refurring to the piece of female anatomy. It was hilarious, and she looked incredibly sexy
