Boxing day Blues....
In my last post i talked about how i dont have a computer...well, i got really excited when i looked in the newspaper today, there was a boxing day sale on computers, and a computer i thought looked really good for about 400$. I called a friend who knew computers well, and he agreed it was good.
So i go to the shop (alone, that was my downfall!)...to make a long story short, i got fucking shanked...pardon my french!
He tried to speed me through it...i did know better, so i thought asking the right questions would save me...turns out he LIED to most of my important questions.
The biggest lie was when he handed me the contract to sign...i was starting to feel like my boyfriend should be there before i commited (he knows alot about computers), and i asked him if it was too late to not sign just yet and take the estimate home and think about it. He said "Weather you sign the contract or not, at this point the sale is already done!" I didn't think that sounded right, but dumb me, i thought "gee...he should know right?" Some very nerdy friends informed me that by the final document i signed, i am now locked in. He totally lied!
And the worst part is. It started off 400$, he jacked up the price to $1066.00 on stuff that "i needed".
GRRRRR!!! I'm going to try to get out of it.

Sweetheart, that's terrible! These places make their money from totally screwing their customers. Legally i'm sure you should be able to get out of it, if you are unhappy with the goods, you can demand a refund. You must have an equivalent over there of our Consumer Rights act.
There is a lesson here. Your gut was telling you something was right, and you must always listen to it!!! Go back there, take the goods with you, and take a man (preferably your man, if he knows a lot about computers and, more importantly, will fight your corner!) I'm all for equality between the sexes, but men are better at some things, and where that much money is at stake, you need to make sure you fight for your rights!
Oh, and tell all your friends (and total strangers, passers-by, etc...!) never to go to that shop!!! :twothumbs:

Happy Ending
My boyfriend is away, and i couldn't find any male friends who were able to accompany me. But i called alot of people and got lots of advice on what my rights were as a customer and i found out that because they still had the computer and i was supposed to pick it up today, the contract is actually nothing until there is an exchange of product. I was supposed to see the manager yesterday and talk to him about it, but he went home and i had to talk to some prick who kept trying to push me into the sale rather then cancel the deal... finally i'm like "look, your not listening to me, read my lips...i want it canceled!" Then he had the nerve to call me a quitter! There were a few harsh lashings from my tongue and he informed me i can have it cancelled, but the manger has to do it. So im going in today first thing to get that done.

Well done for sticking by your guns, honey!!

If you want a good value PC, get on to dell. You can customise what you want online, or talk to them on the phone, and they are really good at sending someone to take the pc away and fix it if owt goes wrong! :-D

Like i said, i have nerdy friends. This is what i've learned:
Dell is good, but you cant upgrade them because when they screw in the mother board and other stuff, inside the computer, they then weld the screws in place, so it cannot be removed. If you want to upgrade you have to send away for another computer.
I learned it is slightly cheaper, and you can get the best quality if you buy the parts and build your own computer. I have a couple friends who could do that for me
Something to consider.

Ah, i didnt realise that about Dell. But then i know sweet FA about computers anyway... My boyfriend is in the process of building his own pc at the moment. It seems like a good way of doing it, as long as, like you said, you know what your doing, or have people who can help you :twothumbs:
