First performance last night...
and it was great!
To be honest I had been slightly worried about it. Not because of the performance, but the actual function. I had had my reservations at the beginning as I was sharing the bill with a magician and the event host had suggested I could also be the magicians assistant. I politely declined as that wasn't what I was there for and it was all cool.
However, a few days ago I was informed that the magician along with over half of the guests could no longer attend. However, rather than cancel (as it was a private function for someone's birthday), it was instead downsized, to someone's house.... Again I had my reservations, and considered pulling out, but I knew several of the people involved (to varying degrees) and I didn't want to let anyone down as they had already been let down by several people involved. I figured it was the professional thing to do, and I am glad I did.
I arrived at the house early and checked it out - there was a large living room that would fit everyone, off of an open kitchen, which I figured would be the best place for a stage. SO yes, my first live performance was in someone's kitchen, lol. But it was wonderful. Of the crowd only a few had any knowledge/interest in burlesque - the others knew I would be stripping but weren't sure what it was all about. So I was really pleased with their reactions. And afterwards everyone was so delighted, and showered me in compliments, lol.
I am really glad I did it, to finally get the routine out there in front of people. It has given me the chance to gauge reactions, etc, but also to do some tweaking that I suspected before hand that was needed. So I can work on it some before my next performance.
For me the highlights of the performance were the crowd reactions, especially when I revealed my lei-garter, revealed by panties including fringing and when I covered the place in hula/lei flowers >.<
Moreover, I loved every second of it, and despite momentarily forgetting everything about a second before the music started and then thankfully remembering it again, I felt completely comfortable doing it. Can't wait to perform it again!!

Thanks

Yeah, if I hadn't known some of the people involved I would have probably withdrawn from it. But, I felt really bad that they'd been so let down already, and although I worried it would be a bit weird, once every thing was set up for the performance it went really well

Thanks Agapanthas

Yeah, it looks like I will be in the newbie slot for the next High Tease in Bath in April (SQUEE!). So I have enough time to tweak the bits I need to. I am so excited about it, I enjoyed performing it so much I can't wait to do it again!!

Yay! Fair play to you Tiger. Glad it went well and, more importantly perhaps, that you enjoyed it!
