Edinburgh Festival
Edinburgh festival
it's the one that's best of all
if you're an actor resting call
your agennnnnt.
One million points to anyone who knows where that song comes from.
Anyway - The frankly terrifying development is that it would seem I am taking a one man show to edinburgh this year.
Here's my question - is anyone else going, and does anyone have any decent accomodation contacts?
Anyone? Beuller?WARNINGWarning: This is an Old Thread

I wish I was! It's generally a wonderful experience . The couple of times I've been as a spectator I've gotten accomodation off of the official fringe website's forums. They don't appear to be up yet though.
Practically perfect in every way...

The Fringe Society has a Participant Services Department that offers a wide range of advice that runs the gamut from the basics of bringing a show, finding a venue to managing your time while you are there (including development and indentifying opportunities to give your show life beyond the festival).
I recommend visiting the website - www.edfringe.com - specifically under the Take Part tab, there is a page called downloads on which there are some really invaluable documents including "The Fringe Guide to Doing a Show" & "The Fringe Guide to Finding a Venue".
There is some great accommodation leads in Section 09 of the Fringe Guide to Doing a Show but I would recommend these two sites to begin with...

For specific advice on all the challenges of the biggest (and best) open-access, international arts festival in the world you should contact the Participant Development Coordinator (I hear she's lovely)

hey Mat,
hooray!
i got a fantastic student flat via Edinburgh University in 2006 for a quite reasonable rate (reasonable for the Fringe that is). i would contact them a.s.a.p. and ask. you'd have to share but i'm sure you could find someone else who would be willing to split the costs and the flats are very clean and well located on Nicolson Street, so super-central.
