Best way of doing things. I did that with my OH three years ago - when we got together we were sure it was only going to be a fling because we would both be leaving Derby about a month later. That never happened, we decided that after that time, actually, we wanted to stay together, and three years later, here we are ...

That worries me sometimes. The boy told me very early on that he wanted to have kids someday in the (far) future, and I told him I never wanted to because I'm not the maternal type. Sometimes I think that we won't last the distance because he'll choose the chance to have a family over me. But when we first discussed it, we decided that the future didn't matter - we'd rather be happy and have fun together than be miserable on our own wondering 'what if'. So you'll spend lots of time and emotion on him and he moves on - isn't that better than not spending it on anyone and being unhappy in the meantime?
Just enjoy it and see what happens. You may well find that your worries are completely unfounded!
