Number two - if you can get your head into the right place, scars can be fantastic. Have you seen Lethal Weapon 3 where Rene Russo and Mel Gibson compare scars? They great at parties when everyone gets drunk and want to compare scars. AND they're great to grossing out (or impressing) kids too - just wait till the first time you can show them a scar and describe the blood and gore that splattered the surgeon's face as he operated on you....erm, honest.
Having said that, I have certain scars I can cope with showing people and laughing about and then there are the scars on my legs from where I used to self-harm. These I have to hide, usually wearing boots because they're still to psychologically raw, but I am getting better with them over time. And there are ways to cover them up, make-up, clothing etc.
If you want books I'm a bookcrosser and have got quite a few on my shelves of various genres I could send you if you PM me your address. I'll have a look at what I've got in a mo and let you know what's available.
OH MY GOODNESS! BLIMEY, REALLY?!
And in the meantime, we could play I spy..... I spy with my little eye something beginning with c.
Or play charades - ok I'm holding up 4 fingers. Now I'm putting my two hands together and pretending to open and shut them, like possibly...erm a book. Now I've made a tube with one hand and with the other hand I seem to be winding up or cranking up a handle, erm like an old fashioned movie camera. ok, fourth word....I'm bending over and pretending to fart, and whiffing away the imaginary smell..... (you're looking a little blank, do you need the first three words too?)
