Hello! Welcome!

Glasgow is a fantastic place to be moving to for burlesque.

Gypsy Charms runs Burlesque classes run through DanceHouse - DanceHouse - National Dance Agency

She also runs beginners classes with Viva Misadventure through the Ministry of Burlesque Academy in Glasgow

If you can get yourself to the Dr Sketchy's Glasgow 1st Birthday Bash as this would be a baptism by fire/wonderful introduction to burlesque in Scotland....and lots of fun - it's on 10th August, I'm not sure if you'll have moved by then

I see you've already joined the Scottish MoB Group - so there are some wonderful people in that to chat to.

I found an e-book from Jo (Boobs) Weldon from the New York School of Burlesque the best starting point for finding out about burlesque and it's cheap (and putting ideas in my head to aks others about).

Also check back through threads on this website and read anything and everything people ask/talk about - I bet everything you want to know has already been discussed - it's a fantastic resource, especially for ideas about make-up, costumes, props etc. Don't be afraid to ask questions either - the forums are terrific sounding boards.

I also recommend trying to see as many acts as possible, either live or type burlesque into youtube, sit back and enjoy. Check out myspace too. Watch and learn as much as you can to help you decide what styles you like and can see yourself performing. And what costumes do you love. Don't copy wholesale, but do gather lots of inspiration.

Lots of burlesque shows have a slot or two for newbies, so if you want to perform then you'll find somewhere to - but again, check out threads about this on the forums, look in the 'castings' section of the website (tab at the top of the page) and network with other performers in the area - it's amazing how supportive you'll find them and how things just snowball when you start asking.

Lots of luck!!
